A foundation of the Emirate, not a visitor to it

In 2023 a ward-level count in Kontagora Emirate found that roughly one in three primary-age children was not in a classroom. Not because schools were absent — because classrooms had no one standing in front of them.

The foundation began as a list of forty people from the Emirate — a surgeon, two lawyers, a retired headmaster, NYSC members — who agreed to give a fixed number of hours each term. It has grown from there, and the model has not changed.
